“In nome del figlio’ movie Trailer

24 01 2012

Look what I found! This is the trailer of the Italian film we shot in Argentina in 2008. Directed by Alberto Simone and starring Lorenza Indovina and David Coco. Originally the title was “La luce nel cuore”. It was a movie made for Television and only broadcasted in Italy by Rai, so I was not able to watch it. But today I found the trailer, and well … here you have it, better late than never!

El último video clip de Leon Gieco, “Hoy bailare,” ya está aquí!

Shooting Leon Gieco’s new music video.

29 11 2011

Yesterday, I was 1st Assistant Director on the set of the renowned artist Leon Gieco’s new music video, with whom it has been a pleasure to work with. It was a hard shooting day involving more than 40 artists of the Latin American dance and music, among others. The video corresponds to the song “Hoy bailare” from his latest album entitled “El desembarco”. It was filmed entirely in studio in the city of Buenos Aires and directed by the brothers Mariano and Eric Dawidson.

Now we just have to wait for the premiere!

Writers and Procution

24 11 2011

I found a very helpful article for screenwriters by Alan Denman. In “Why Writers should learn about Production” he talks about what you can learn from understanding how films are produced. You cannot become a good screenwriter unless you have a firm grasp of all the major aspects of production. Then you will understand much better what you are writing because film production is a complex and collaborative process involving many skills where you, as the writer, are but one member of the team.

My First Original Screenplay!!

29 09 2011

I haven’t written about my work for a while. So… what have I been doing for the past year and a half? Well… I’ve been writing a screenplay, and I became so involved with it that it took up almost all of my time.

This is my first original feature film screenplay, and I have had a great time writing it. It’s been very hard work, but I am happy to say that I am right now finishing the final draft.

It’s a Fantasy Adventure for children, and I am very proud of it!

Waste Land at the GreenFilmFest

30 08 2011

On Sunday, at the GreenFilmFest (International environment Film Festival) I saw an excellent Academy Award nominee documentary, “Waste Land.”

It tells how Vik Muniz, the contemporary best-selling Brazilian artist in the U.S., returns home to take an emotional journey from Jardim Gramacho, the world’s largest garbage dump on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, to the heights of international art stardom. Vik works with the so-called “catadores”, collectors of recyclable materials, who live and work in the garbage and are transformed by the power of art.

Directed by Lucy Walker, Fernando Meirelles as executive producer and music by Moby.

A truly must see!

Your Personal Genre

23 08 2011

I recently read an article by Elliot Grove, and I have to say that he gives an excellent advice.

We know that the film industry markets movies by genre. To make it as a successful screenwriter, one needs to specialize in a mix of genres. However, so too all filmmakers need to use the tool of genre to distinguish themselves from their competitors. Where writers have the 10 key dramatic genres to help them get noticed, filmmakers have no such help – this is where the use of personal genre becomes paramount.

So click here if you want to access the 10 magic steps to creating that personal genre.

The Second Draft Advice

15 08 2011

Have you ever wondered where to go after the first draft?

Then, read this article I found on Alex Epstein‘s blog Complications Ensue. It will help you answer the two questions to ask yourself before going onto the second draft. And will also make you realize that there is no such thing as a second draft, because every draft is a first draft, until you shoot it.

The Incident vs. The Call

13 07 2011

Syd Field speaks of “Inciting Incident” while Joseph Campbell speaks of “Call to Adventure”.

But… do they refer to the same thing? Is it really the Incident “that point in the story when the Protagonist encounters the problem that will change their life,” or is it the Call?

Let’s let Karel Segers clear this up. Click here to see what he has to say.
