Me gradue con mi tesis “Ulises…”, ya soy directora de cine! / I got my degree with my thesis “Ulises…”, I am a filmmaker now!

After an intense eight days of filming, I presented Ulises…, short film which I wrote and directed, to the board of professors at the film school. After the presentation, the board of professors congratulated me for my work and signed the forms that certify that I am a professional filmmaker! We headed to my house and had a party with friends and family. I am so happy!
Ulises… is  a comedy about a young obsessive compulsive accumulator in trouble. If you want to see more details about this short film click here or visit the tab above that says “Ulises…”.
In two days I will fly to London, from where I will be travelling and shooting some videos. I will keep you posted!

Después de ocho intensos días de rodaje, presente Ulises…, cortometraje que escribí y dirigí, al jurado de profesores en la Escuela de Cine. Después de la presentación, los profesores me felicitaron por mi trabajo y firmaron los papeles que certifican que soy una realizadora de cine profecional! Y nos fuimos a mi casa para festejar con mis amigos y familia. Estoy tan contenta!

Un Show de Anestesia, film school thesis by Carolina Gimenez

A travesty, a midget, adult films and love… you do the math. This comedy-drama written and directed by Caro to present as her thesis at the Film School got me once again performing as Art Director. I had to imprint a grotesque style to the film and create three different sets in only one location. As usual, all the team worked happily together to get an excellent result. Ohhh! In case you are interested… the travesty was perfectly played by a woman, actress Silvia del Castillo.

Un travesti, un enano, peliculas para adultos y amor… hagan la cuenta. Esta tragicomedia escrita y dirigida por Caro para presentar como su Tesis en la Escuela de Cine me atrapo una vez mas como Directora de Arte. Tuve que imprimirle un estilo grotesco a la película y crear tres decorados diferentes en una misma locacion. Sin ser esta una excepcion, todo el equipo trabajo felizmente junto para obtener un resultado excelente. Ahhh! En caso que les interese… el travesti estuvo perfectamente interpretado por una mujer, la actriz Silvia del Castillo.

Despertares (aka Awakenings)

We have just finished filming in 16mm an experimental short film that I co-directed with Carolina Gimenez and in which we both also did the cinematography. It was shot in black and white and color, all in one black room and in one day. Hemos terminado de filmar en 16mm un cortometraje experimental que co-dirigí junto con Carolina Gimenez y en el cual las dos también nos encargamos de la dirección de fotografía. Fue filmado con película blanco y negro y película color, todo en un cuarto negro y en un solo día. At last! we have finished shooting my second short film entitled “Everything you always wanted to know about Death but were afraid to ask”. This comedy is about a very particular situation in which the Death finds her/himself when the victim refuses to go. Por fin! Hemos terminado de filmar mi Segundo cortometraje titulado “Todo lo que usted siempre quiso saber sobre La Muerte pero nunca se atrevió a preguntar”. Esta comedia trata sobre una situación muy particular en la que La Muerte se encuentra cuando su víctima se niega a irse. I will be Camera Assistant in “Cafe Cafe” by Andrea Puebla

Next week I will be the Camera Assistant of Carolina Gimenez in the comedy “Cafe Cafe” written and directed by Andrea Puebla, with Mariano Tobar as Art Director, Cristian Pellegrini as Assistant Director, among others.This short film in a about Margarita, a married woman bored of her routinary life who decides to change her day starting it with the two things that give her pleasure: sex and coffee.

La proxima semana sere Asistente de Camara de Carolina Gimenez en la comedia “Cafe Cafe” escrita y dirigida por Andrea Puebla, con Mariano Tobar a cargo de la Direccion de Arte y Cristian Pellegrini como Primer Asistente de Direccion, entre otros. Este cortometraje cuenta sobre Margarita, una mujer cansada y aburrida de su rutina que decide cambiar su día comenzando por las dos cosas que le provocan placer: el sexo y el café.

I Will Survive (Video Clip, 2002)

Cristian Pellegrini and Carolina Gimenez were the directors of “I will survive”, a video clip for the Film School. The song on the video is the one of the same name by Gloria Gaynor. I was part of the crew as Art Director. It was a very interesting experience as the idea was to display a very colorful image and, as we had to characterize the cast as four drag queens, there was a very large display of clothes, make up and wigs. One of the scenes took place in a very exotic and kitsch dressing room which we had to decorate from scratch. This was certainly a good experience to learn that we can do good quality filming with low budget.

Cristian Pellegrini y Carolina Gimenez fueron los directores de “I will survive”, un video clip realizado para la Escuela de Cine. La cancion del video es la cancion del mismo nombre de Gloria Gaynor. Yo forme parte del equipo como Directora de Arte. Fue una experiencia muy interesante ya que la idea era conseguir una imagen muy colorida y, como debimos caracterizar al elenco como 4 draq queens, hubo un gran despliegue de vestuario, maquillaje y pelucas. Una de las escenas se realizo en un camarin muy exotico de estilo kitsch que tuvimos que decorar desde cero. Esta fue una muy buena experiencia para aprender que podemos hacer cine de buena calidad con bajo presupuesto.

“Trazos de Muerte” by Carolina Gimenez was just too much fun for a drama

Caro came up with the nice idea of filming a depressing-miserable-cheerless-sad drama. “Trazos de Muerte” is the story of Clara, a fine art painter that ends in a shrink house after a troubled relationship with her violent husband. This time I was in charge of the Camera and Caro asked me to be creative but precise when shooting the scenes of violence hand held. Although everything was perfectly planned for shooting a drama, the circumstances made a funny twist when a cast member turned up drunk to the set (which the director managed perfectly well) and when part of the crew showed their skills as extras at the shrink house scene, acting as the craziest girls on earth!

Caro tuvo la gran idea de filmar un drama de lo mas depresivo, miserable y triste. “Trazos de Muerte” es la historia de Clara, una pintora de finas artes que termina encerrada en un manicomio tras una relación complicada con su violento marido. Esta vez yo estuve a cargo de la Camara y Caro me pidió que fuese creativa pero precisa cuando filmase las escenas de violencia cámara en mano. Aunque todo estaba perfectamente planeado para filmar un drama, la situación dio un giro divertido cuando uno de los miembros del elenco apareció en el set muy borracho (lo cual la directora supo manejar perfectamente) y mas aun cuando parte del equipo técnico mostro sus cualidades como extras en la escena del manicomio… actuando como las mujeres mas locas del mundo!
