Oyes ladrar los perros? (2001)

Don’t you hear the dogs bark? Is an adaptation from the novel “No oyes ladrar los perros” by the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo in which an aged father carries on his back a criminal son, badly hurted and maybe dying, through a sad landscape. Directed by Sebastian Sosa and filmed in a river next to the railways (with a bunch of hungry mosquitoes around), this was a very good experience in which I had the challenging task as Script Supervisor to check the continuity of blood stains in the casts’ clothes, among other things. By the end of the day, after the mosquitos’ bites, being in the river, walking through the railways, carrying the equipment through the woods, shooting in a rubbish dump, etc… I realized that I love my career.

Es una adaptacion de la novela “No oyes ladrar lo perros” del autor Mexicano Juan Rulfo en la cual un padre viejo lleva sobre sus hombros a un hijo criminal, herido, quizá de muerte, y por un paisaje pedregoso y triste. Dirigido por Sebastian Sosa y filmado en un rio junto a las vías del tren (con una nube de mosquitos sobre nosotros), esta fue una muy buen experiencia en la cual tuve la desafiante tarea de, como Script, llevar la continuidad de las manchas de sangre en la ropa de los actores, entre otras cosas. Al finalizar el dia, después de las picaduras de mosquitos, estar metidos en el rio, caminar por las vías, cargar el equipo a través de un bosque, filmar en un basural, etc… me di cuenta cuanto amo mi carrera.

Manos… buuuuuuuuuuu!

When my friend Camila Menendez asked me to help her as Assistant Art Director in the shooting of “Manos” (hands) an adaptation from the children horror book “Help! 12 Stories to Frighten You to Death” by Elsa Bornemann , I was very exited! This short film turned to be of great quality, not only because the three girls playing the leading roles where very good actresses but also because the story is a classic horror tale that made us all lose sleep when we were kids .

Cuando mi amiga Camila Menendez me pidio que la ayudara como Asistente de Arte en el rodaje de “Manos”, una adaptación del libro para ninios “¡Socorro! (12 cuentos para caerse de miedo)” de Elsa Bornemann, me puse muy contenta! Este cortometraje resulto de gran calidad, no solo porque las buenas actuaciones de las tres ninias en los roles principales, sino también porque esta historia es un clásico cuento de terror que, de ninios, nos quito el suenio mas de una vez.

El Juez, The Judge, 2001

Next week, for the first time, I will get someone to age years and years in a few days. It will not be witchcraft but it will be make up and latex as “the Judge”, drama directed by Bernardo Cara, needs a bunch of characters to grow old (in three different stages of their lives) and I will not only be in charge of the Art Director but also I will do the Make-Up myself. I have been doing make-up testing on the actors and it looks great (albeit is very hard to do)! Furthermore, we are going to film in the hallways of the Mendoza Courts of Justice… fun is in the way.

La proxima semana, por primera vez, hare envejecer una persona varios anios en unos pocos días. No será magia, será maquillaje y latex ya que “El Juez”, drama dirigido por Bernardo Cara, necesita que un grupo de sus personajes envejezca (en tres etapas diferentes de sus vidas) y yo no solo estare a cargo de la Direccion de Arte, sino que también hare el maquillaje. He estado probando el latex en los actores y se ve buenísimo (aunque es realmente difícil de hacer)! Mas aun, vamos a filmar en los pasillos de Tribunales de Mendoza… la diversión esta asegurada.
